i had several that survived for years in pots when i lived in louisiana (outside in summer and inside in winter). one was a habanero that was dwarfed by living in a teeny pot, but still produced a bumper crop of peppers every year.
we don't have a south facing window or i'd have a pepper in a pot here in glasgow.
